the hanging man in the tree saved my day

so i started out having a pretty lousy day. as i was heading out to my car, i remembered that jay had taken it out last night and parked it up the hill quite a ways. i was sort of frustrated by that, which is stupid, but i think it was because of the day i was having and i let that add to it even more. also, as silly as it is, i hate losing a good parking space, so while i wasn't upset with jay for taking the car out, i couldn't help but be a bit peeved as i walked up the hill to our car. i got in, started the car up, and looked to the left and saw a dummy hung in my neighbor's tree. i'm not sure why, but it absolutley made my day! i then remembered that i had photography project in mind, to take picture of ridiculous halloween decorations but i kept putting it off. luckily, i had my camera in my bag, so i decided to start on it. i got some really fun photos of the decorations in my nieghborhood (which i will post on here as soon as jay shows me how to transfer pictures to the computer from the camera!) and then headed off to the orthodontist. on greensburg pike, there was a man cutting down a really tall tree, which he had begun the day before, and i had wanted to photograph him, so i pulled over and got soem shots of him. by this time, i was overjoyed (it really doesn't take much!) and happily set off down the hill, further gladden by the lovely sounds of this nice young man featured on my blog today, mr. m ward. i decided his music is perfect for the fall, especially his new album, transistor radio. as i approached penn township, where my orthodontist's office is located, i passed the craziest halloween display ever. someone had taken an old van and created an accident scene with a zombie crashing through the windshield. i later noticed that there was a man being run over by a lawnmower, and keep out written in red paint on their door (i doubled back to take pictures and stopped again on my way back) . i think i am so fanscinated by halloween decorations because normal suburban dwellers will use their imaginations in the most macbre ways to create ridiculous and gruesome scenes in their yards. i remember i house in turtle creek which actually set up a sacrifice scene; a man tied up lying on bales of hay with some ghoulish character raising a knife over the tied man's chest. it disturbed me somewhat, i think i was 10 or 11, and it struck me as odd that any other time of the year, if someone had that scene in their yard, it would signify that there was something terribly wrong with your neighbor and perhaps be a reason to want to leave the neighborhood, but because it was for halloween, it was totally acceptable. well, maybe it wasn't completely ok with the neighbors, but i doubt anyone wondered if sue and mark next door were members of a satanic coven.
so yeah, the orthodontist-in and out in about 15 minutes, fastest ever and i don't have to go back until jan 5! yippee!
