meteors!

i had a completely crappy day at work today...worked 12-11:45...didn't have enough people...got fed up with feeling so responsible for everything at work and feeling like i care too much about a job that is basically meaningless. felt lonely and sad and frustrated with myself. all the good stuff. on my way home i saw what i thought was a firecracker skitter across the sky. but when i pulled onto my street i saw another one and realized there was a meteor shower tonight! i always want to go out into the country, or at least somewhere away from all the suburban lights to watch meteor showers, but i never have. so to clear my head and somewhat revive my dying sense of wonder(something that i have noticed over the past year and really upsets me is how little i stop to marvel at the beautiful things in the world), i decided i was going to go out somewhere to watch the display. i wanted jay to go with me, but he sadly has to work at 8 in the morning so he was out. luckily, my dear sister is always up for an adventure, no matter how small or how late at night it is. so we headed to westmoreland county in search of a quiet dark place. we ended up at oak hollow park and sat for an hour or so watching the shooting stars (shooting stars sounds fancier and better than meteors, so what if they aren't really stars?), talking and listening to music. it was exactly what i needed to keep me from being depressed and feeling sorry for myself. i feel so much better now. i know that tomorrow will probably be just as awful at work, my hands will probably get worse (as they have been over the past week and a half : ( but for now there's a small smile on my face and i feel a little more hopeful than i did three hours ago.

i'm going to have a little glass of eggnog and sleep in heavenly peace...i hope.

ps the next meteor shower is jan 3rd&4th-anyone in?

I once sang a song to a bunch of kids with the same theme...more-or-less.
