yesterday i was a bit of a crank. i blame it on the crappy weather we've been having. today i see a little sun and some blue sky so hopefully it will shape up to be a better day. last night was apollo at go at the shadow lounge. the guys sounded fantastic. vin was missed. afterwards, jay, joel, jo-nathan, teresa, b-rad, and myself went to rittters. fun time, bad food. everything i got looked like it came with an entire stick of butter melted over it. i went to bed feeling a little ill.
only ten days till i start work. i am pretty nervous. and a little sad in a bratty way that i have to go back to work and give up my life of leisure. but wouldn't you? at the same time, it will be good to be on a schedule and to be doing something with my time that will benefit others.
here's what i'm looking forward to:
1. working with kids
2. meeting new people
3. riding the bus to and from work, giving me a good hour or so to read/listen to music
4. having structure to my days
5. not feeling guilty about not having a job
here's what i'm not looking forward to:
1. getting up early (that's probably the main thing)
2. making even less money than i am making now through unemployment
3. the worries that come with taking a bus (catching the school bus every morning made me nervous enough!)
4. exhaustion which is sure to come with working with kids for 8 or so hours a day
5. having to go to bed early
of course, there is also the fact that i have no idea what this is going to be like, whether i will like the other people i work with, whether i'll get to work with the age kids i feel most comfortable with (2nd graders!), whether i will like it at all. but i keep reminding myself that this is only for eleven weeks and that if for some reason i don't like it, i can make it through those eleven weeks. and i'm only thinking that i may not like it to be realistic. i'm actually pretty optimistic about it and in general, i'm just letting out my nervousness here.
now i am off to face the day and hopefully accomplish many things!
