a tunnel from my window to yours

my little life

Sunday, November 19, 2006

i was just chatting with a lady who's staying here and it turns out she is from erie, actually albion and knows my dad's family! she went to my dad's high school with my aunt and uncle, and my grandparents used to come to a ham dinner at her church every year. it made me happy that she knew them, but it also makes me miss my grandparents. i want to see my gram soon, hopefully at christmas. i still haven't completely grasped the fact that my grandfather is dead. it's odd because i feel like i had a really possitive experience dealing with his death, especially it being the first major death in my life. but every now and then i forget that he's dead. i think it was last year around this time, i was at giant eagle and i saw peanuts in a cleveland browns jar and i thought it would make a perfect present for him and it took me a moment to remember. i don't know if it's like that for everyone who loses someone. i also don't really like the term "loss" or saying that he's gone. because i feel like he's not completely gone. i wrote a paper about how i feel about it, and i may have even previously written something on here about it. i don't feel like i've lost him, especially when i talk to people who knew him. he knew so many people and as sentimental as it may sound, i don't feel like he'll ever completly be gone as long as i can remember him the people who knew him and can randomly encounter people who don't know me, but knew him.
