my little life

today was the first day of kids...and it went pretty well! i do prefer kids a little younger (i'm with 9&10 year olds) but i like them so far. there are 16 or so of them in our group and four counselors, although one of the counselors is gone all week. his loss. my goal for tomorrow is to learn all of their names. i got most of the boys' names down today, but the girls were way quieter and therefore stood out less. after we took the kids outside to go home, i met an adorable girl named jordan, who is the younger sister of one of my kids. she wanted to know my name so i asked her her's, and then she told me, "you can keep asking me questions." it turns out she is 8, my favorite age to work with.

the only bad thing, besides my camp shirt which is a million sizes to big, was that i got a really bad migraine. i felt kind of bad all day and then when i went out into the sun, it felt like holes were being drilled through my eyes. pretty unpleasant. but it seems to be subsiding now. i hope migraines are not a side affect of working with kids...i did start having them when i was volunteering at SHARKs in oakland.
