tattoo!!!

jay got his tattoo finished yesterday. it took a long time (all those little leaves!) but it looks really good. i was somewhat hesitant about spending a big chunk of my day off sitting at unique ink, but it was nice to spend time with jay. i read a some flannery o'connor, including the heart of the park which was later rewritten as part of her novel wise blood. good stuff.
it was also cool to have dan do it...he's so nice and down to earth... also quite handy with a tattoo needle. part of me has always wanted to get a tattoo, especially now that i've seen so many that are not tribal armbands, flaming dice, or rings of dolphins encircling girl's belly buttons. i love jason, joel, beth and mike's tattoos. joel and beth have thrown around the idea of getting a map from my father's dragon so i was thinking that maybe it would be cool if the three of us all got something from that book. i don't know if sibling tattoos is a lame idea; i think it's nice, but i am the most sentimental out of the three of us and maybe they would hate the idea.
i'm glad that jay finally got this done...he's wanted it for so long.

today is a bit of a landmark day for me because...i actually called off work!!!!! my eczema is so painful and it has flared up pretty bad on my feet, to the point where wearing shoes is soooo painful! i did see my dermatologist today and she prescribed a new cream and an antihistamine. we'll see if it works. the thing that is awful about it all is this isn't going to just go away. it's something i have to manage and deal with probably for the rest of my life. i know that there are so many things way worse than eczema and i'm thankful that i'm only dealing with a skin condition, rather than a chronic illness, but it is such a pain! hopefully, this new stuff will help.
