i am terribly depressed. there are only seven days of camp left. writing that made tears well up in my eyes. argh! i am desperately seeking an afterschool program to work at in braddock. i feel a definite attachment to that community now.
yesterday i led a craft with the two younger groups. we made koi fish. it was a bit stressful, but so much fun. the youngest group cheered when i came into the room. it made my day.
i've been drawing with my kids the past two days. we've been combining two or three animals to make a new animal. it's sad that i feel like this is the first time that the kids have been given much of an opportunity to be creative. they've come up with some great ideas. i like mine too. i drew a octophant and a liquackswan today.
while we were waiting for the kids to get picked up today, little jason showed me his notebook. he told me he uses it to write lists in about what he does during the day. he wanted to show me that he had lemons for his lemonade stand on his list. he is heartbreakingly adorable.
kenez drew this picture of jordon.

i love children's art. i love that most children are uninhibited and will draw a subject as they see it.
i finally feel like i am connecting with the other counselors. i hate that it takes me so long to feel comfortable with people. in situations like this, it's especially frustrating because after friday of next week, this place with these people will no longer exist. but i am content with the fact that i am so happy right now. it feels good to know you made a good, or rather, near perfect decision. i am so pleased with my summer. it has truly been wonderful.

your posts lately have touched my heart and sitmulated my imagination. thank you.
also, i could not agree with you more about children's art. did you know a lot of famous artists did exercises to 'free up the mind' by attempting to draw like kids? i like that.
i love that fish you made! if i were your mom, it would be hanging on my fridge right now! ;)
