it's been a while...

beth and i used to sing that song to each other and crack up...is it by creed? hmmm, maybe not. remember their song at the end of spiderman? the best was when we made up our own song to the tune of "take me higher" by creed, celebrating green goblin. if i remember correctly, we did that on beth's 16th birthday-it was beth, joel, me, and jason at that crappy little theater in north huntingdon...am i wrong beth? we also ended up making a song for jafar to the tune of "the world's greatest" by r. kelly.

so it has at least felt like a while since i last posted although i think it was just thursday. my weekends are so busy with work. i worked 22 hours in the last 2 days. i know that is normal for kim and a reason to commit suicide for mike and for jason, it would have included a few naps. i dealt with it pretty well considering yesterday i was scheduled to leave at 8 and stayed till 11:30. i was going to leave at 10, but at 9:30 the one new girl who i actually like who was scheduled till 11, informed me that she was leaving then to catch a bus cause our "buses run real stupid" in monroeville. awesome. i couldn't really tell her no because she didn't have any other way to get home and it was cold and icy out (maybe i could've justified in my head her being stranded at the mall all night if it was nice out, but i guess i'm a bit of a softie). it was fine for me-more overtime!

i found out something so sad on friday...beth already mentioned it in her blog, but my favorite customer ever died last sunday. i tried to find his obituary online last night, but all i could find was a very brief listing of his name, samuel folino, and that he was 89 and lived in turtle creek. he came everyday around 2:30, got a small decaf coffee, two creams, and a "big bucket of ice" as he called our large cups of ice. i would see him coming and even if i wasn't working on register, i would try to get his order ready before he got to our counter. he always called me sweetheart or beautiful. sometimes he would come down with his grandson or this big burly older guy who was the one who gave me the sad news on friday. he had a soft voice with a lovely italian accent. he wore a little cap and was the most adorable old man i've ever known. i always wanted to photograph him, but was too shy to ask. i noticed that he hadn't come down all week, but i never imagined something was wrong, he seemed to be in good health. i just remembered now that the last time i saw him, i was running an errand through the mall on friday and he was sitting upstairs by j.c. penny with some of his friends. we saw each other and he gave me a huge smile, like he was suprised, but delighted to see me and waved. i waved back. it's funny that someone who i really knew nothing about, besides his drink order, could mean so much to me. he honestly brightened my day everytime i saw him and i am going to miss him terribly.

i was going to write more but i feel too sad and somber to write about anything else that i was going to write about.

I bet I saw him at CVS, but I just can't picture him.
