today was a great day. i found myself swarmed with kids this morning at breakfast. we talked about riding bikes and kennywood. sample choice dialogue: "man, you afraid of the guy who sprays smoke at you on the exterminator? it's smoke; stop, drop, and roll!" followed up later with "if i see smoke i'm gonna run because fire spreads fast, right? and i'll be crispy and i'm too cute to be crispy" and i had to agree with her. the same girl who was afraid of smoke had never been on garfield's nightmare and asked me to describe it to her. i told her that giant slices of pizza attacked garfield and that was about it and she lost it. she was gripping my arm and laughing for almost a minute.

we were at a marine/navy base all day today for a science/math/technology program, which was actually a lot of fun. we built rockets. jeffery n. danced to the jazzy music in a short video we watched. later i helped him draw a rocket with a computer. i also got the job of photographer for my group which made me happy.

on the bus ride home we talked about spiders.

at the end of the day we counselors have to wait around in our classrooms until four and most of the time we read or clean up the room, not really talking to much to each other. but today mr. matt left early and we three girls sat around and chatted until it was time to leave. i've wanted to get to know the people i work with but i think that people don't want to get to know me so i rarely put forth an effort. i'm silly, i know. but today was really nice and made me happy.

the only bee in my bonnet was/is that i have a bit of a sinus infection.
